Hey r/japanlife !
I am currently studying abroad this semester and love it. I am now trying to find a way to live over here after I graduate. Does anyone have any recommendations for jobs that are good to study Japanese alongside? I am a finance major and am trying to find something in that field, should I do something like JET until I get N1 then apply for a job in that field? Has it been possible for anyone to do language school and pay for that while doing a part time job?

I worked part time in a cafe and a Udon shop before finding my long term career.
Both these part timer jobs had many customers wanting to strike a conversation with me. Mostly because seeing a foreigner work an Udon stove was rare. It’s a good ice breaker which lead to some good conversations. In the 2 months I worked there I saw the most noticable improvement in my Japanese.
The cafe no as much, as people were sort of in and out so quick there wasn’t as much chance.
ALT work is the best underrated language school here IMO. Have N1, now in a different field, and don’t even know what the inside of a language school looks like.
I’m not in finance but in tech a lot of companies want experienced overseas hires. This is my experience your mileage may vary. Just something to keep in mind.
If you can code or do stats look into that/data science, lot of jobs you don’t even need to speak Japanese for.
