Itinerary Review 13 Days – Tokyo – Mt. Fuji – Kyoto – Osaka

Hello kind people of r/JapanTravel, long time lurker posting for first time. I am looking for some advice on below itinerary for 12 days. Visiting Japan for the first time and planning to visit Tokyo, Mt. Fuji (Lake Kawaguchiko), Kyoto & Osaka. Our main interest are to watch autumn foliage & natural beauty of Japan, shrines, shop for electronics/anime/action figures and visit popular spots in general.

Sorry for long post & detailed itinerary.

Any suggestions welcome to optimize the itinerary, also suggest if it is too hectic.

**Day-1: Sunday (Reach Tokyo)**

* Arrive at Narita 10am.
* Reach Hotel at Shinjuku or Shingawa by 1pm. Check in will be at 3pm so roam around in neighborhood till check in.
* Rest for some time till 5pm.
* Visit Kanda Myojin Shrine.
* Visit nearby shops on Akihabara like Daiso, Don Quijote etc.
* Have dinner and return to Hotel

**Day-2: Monday (Tokyo-Nerima, Nakano, Bunkyo, Toshima, Odaiba)**

* Visit Harry Potter Warner Bros. Studio Tokyo in morning
* Next go to Nakano Broadway
* Next to Yodobashi complex for some shopping and roaming around
* Visit Pokemon Center Mega Tokyo, Toshima City, Nr Shinjuku or the one in Bunkyo
* Visit Milky Way Café, Toshima
* Koishikawa-Kōrakuen Garden (Bunkyo)
* In evening visit Rikugien Garden (Bunkyo) (illumination at night.)
* If time permits, visit Odaiba to see Rainbow Bridge, Unicorn Gundam Statue, Statue Of Liberty, Tokyo, DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, Odaiba Marine Park. *(I think Odaiba itself needs half day or full day depending on activities, kindly suggest if it will be hecetic if included here and if it is better to keep separate day)*

**Day-3 Tuesday (Tokyo DisneyLand)**

* Full day at Tokyo DisneyLand or Tokyo DisneySea – not decided yet but either of the one.

**Day-4 Wednesday (Tokyo-Shinjuku, Shibuya)**

* Tokyo Tower (main + top deck)
* Meiji Jingu Shrine +Meiji Jingu Gyoen
* Meiji Jingu Gaien – ginkgo avenue
* Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden
* Takeshita street, Harajuku, Shibuya City
* Shibuya Park Street to Yoyogi Park
* Yoyogi Park
* Tokyo Dome City
* At night visit Tokyo Mega Illumination at Tokyo City Keiba
* Evening or Night visit Shibuya Blue Cave Illumination
* Optional places in same area if time permits:
* Tokyo Toy Museum – Shinjuku
* Godzilla Store Tokyo – Shinjuku
* Showa Memorial Park
* Daikanyama
* Imperial Palace, Chiyoda City

**Day-5 Thursday (Tokyo-Sumida, Taito, Minato)**

* In morning visit Tokyo Skytree (Tembo Galleria + Tembo Deck)
* Next to Ueno Park
* Tokyo National Museum, Taito City
* Senso-ji Temple (Shrine), Taito City
* Lunch nearby
* Tokyo Midtown Starlight Garden
* At night visit Keyakizaka Illumination in Roppongi
* Monorail on Rainbow Bridge – Minato to Odaiba at night just for views.

**Day-6 Friday (Tokyo to Mt. Fuji)**

* Leave from Tokyo to Mt. Fuji by 9:30am Fuji Excursion Express.
* Reach Mt.Fuji station/Kawaguchiko around 11:30am.
* Take Fujikyuko train to Shimoyoshida and visit Chureito Pagoda first.
* Come back to Kawaguchicko, have lunch and go to Sunnide Resort area & Momoji corridor and maples corridor to witness foliage.
* After lunch visit Mt. Fuji Panorama View Ropeway and then check in to hotel at 4pm.
* Then go to Oishi park and return to hotel in evening.
* Stay night at Kawaguchiko.

**Day-7 Saturday (Mt. Fuji to Kyoto)**

* Leave from Mt. Fuji to Kyoto latest by 9:00am via bus or train.
* Leave luggage at Kyoto station till hotel check in around 4pm.
* Visit Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine
* Visit Eikando Zenrinji Temple
* After lunch Visit Arashiyama Bamboo Grove in afternoon
* Visit Nijō Castle by evening/night. Projection mapping event at night
* Kiyomizu-dera – Temple by evening/night. Illumination till 9pm.
* Stay night at Kyoto.

**Day-8 Sunday (Kyoto)**

* Bishamondo Temple in morning
* Kinkaku-ji – Temple – Golden Pavilion
* Genko-an Temple
* Visit Toji Temple: Five-Story Pagoda after lunch
* Next visit Nishiki Market in noon
* Visit Togetsu Bridge at evening/night
* Visit Kifune Shrine: Lanterns and Fall Foliage at evening/night
* Stay Night at Kyoto

**Day-9 Monday (Kyoto to Osaka)**

* Leave from Kyoto and reach Osaka by 11am
* Visit Umeda Sky Building in noon or evening
* Pokémon Center Osaka
* Visit Yodobashi Camera Multimedia Umeda Store for casual roaming/shopping
* Visit Osaka Castle at night to see illumination
* Osaka Castle Park at evening or night
* Grand Front Osaka at night
* Minoh Falls, Minoh Park (if time permits)

**Day-10 Tuesday (Osaka-Universal studios)**

* Full day at Universal studios Theme park (Thinking of buying express pass to reduce wait time at queues at attractions & rides)

**Day-11 Wednesday (Osaka)**

* Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan
* Tempozan Giant Ferris Wheel
* Shinsaibashi-Suji Shopping Street
* Kuromon Ichiba Market
* Sumiyoshi Taisha (Shrine)
* Daisen Park
* Visit Nakanoshima Park – Festival of Lights Osaka at night
* Visit Dotonbori for night Stroll and Dinner

**Day-12 Thursday (Osaka and Osaka to Tokyo in evening)**

* Spare day in Osaka till 8pm – Roam around in areas nearby hotel or visit missed places if any from above
* Leave for Tokyo latest by 9:24pm Shinkansen
* Reach Tokyo by 11:30pm and check in for Hotel

**Day-13 Friday (Fly out of Japan)**

* Take early morning Nartita Express from Tokyo to Narita Airport and reach Narita by 8am.
* Fly out of Japan via 11am flight.

  1. What route are you taking from Fuji to Kyoto? Planning a similar route, for me it takes me back to Tokyo and then to kyoto
