J:COM modem options?

I’ve got J:COM internet at home.

I have coax cable.

They gave me a combination modem:wifi router.

I want to use my own wifi now,*

Do they have a modem-only option?

I tried to ask the service techs who set it up, but they didn’t understand the question (using Google translate).

I’ll ask in person at the office later this week, but I’m not sure they’ll understand either. If there’s a specific model you know J:COM offers, even better!

*and I thought spectrum in the US was bad.

The unit, a Kaon KCM3101, is intolerably locked down.

I literally am locked out if changing the wifi password,

I can’t even turn the wifi OFF,
The WPS button on the front is disabled too,

… let alone any kind of ability to set up networks or vlans or QoS or port security or firewall rules of any kind.

It’s pretty bad.

Like what if I gave the password to a neighbor and wanted to retract the offer? I couldn’t. I can’t turn it off, or change the password– it’s stuck.

Sorry… rant over. Just seems really stupid to me.

I can of course (and am) using my own wifi,

But the inability to even turn off JCOM’s wifi means they interfere with each other.

And I tried using my own docsis 3.1 cable modem, but it wouldn’t receive an IP.
