this is a multifaceted question ~ can a word being involved in a set phrase change it’s pitch when it otherwise wouldn’t be? and in the following case, is the pitch adjustment correctly denoted by my dictionaries?
>馬鹿 high->low
>馬鹿にする low-> high, staying high
As I was reading Genki lesson 10 I saw the note that says in real life the phrases のほうが and より are sometimes in reverse order. Can anyone give me an example of this?
wondering about this passage from 杜子春:
> あの虎や白蛇と同じようにテッカンシの留守をつけこんだ、魔性のいたずらに違いありません。
context: A wizard told the apprentice to sit still when the wizard is gone visiting a goddess. All these things keep happening such as, tigers and snakes appear and try to make the apprentice scream etc. Then a storm comes, and it seems like a really violent storm that will destroy the mountain, but then it disappears like the snake and the tiger.
I wonder what つけこんだ means here though. 留守をつけこんだ might mean it’s connected to his (the wizard’s) absence?
I think this is something like, “Like the snake and the tiger, it was connected to テッカンシ’s absence, certainly tricks of the devious spirits.”
