Hi there,
I‘m strongly considering taking a weekend escape on 11-12 of November 2023 to go to the wonderful Nijima island, as I read it‘s one of Japan‘s surfing paradises.
I will be starting my trip from Tokyo and return to Tokyo thereafter. I would have the following questions:
– Are there at least some people surfing at that time of the year? All google maps pictures show an empty beach with some waves (I‘ve checked Habushiura coast/beach). I wouldn‘t wanna travel somewhere where no one else is surfing and I don‘t have any local validation/safety
– Is there even good waves at this time of the year, as I understand it is towards the end of the main season
– I will probably need a wetsuit, can this be rented on the island?
-Located Elegance store to rent a Surfboard, haven‘t contacted them yet, but any clue if they are open all year long?
– any other points I might be forgetting?
Thanks!!

Do you speak Japanese? The izu islands are kinda hard to get around if you don’t speak Japanese. I went to Oshima and kozushima and nobody spoke any English. Also they only rented a car to me because I had a Japanese license. I went in October too and the busses weren’t running because it’s off-season.
Make sure you have everything planned beforehand.
