FYI selling stuff in 2nd hand stores

So this month I had to deal with an unexpected shoulder issue that’s starting to cost me quite a bit of money. I was just in the middle of a summer/fall transition in my closet and decided to sell some old stuff. 1st store I visited was 2nd Street. Offered me ¥10,000 total. Told them I’ll think it over and walked 2mn down the street to a lesser known place called Vector, and they offered me ¥30,000. It’s not a lot of money I know but still, 3 times over. So my advice is this, always double check and get a 2nd estimate. Same goes with doctors by the way, lol.

  1. Damn what kind of high end brands do you buy lol. I’ve never had a second hand store offer me more than like ¥300 for clothes

  2. I mean there’s always mercari. Really easy to sell things, and even after the 10% cut + shipping costs you’ll get way more than a second hand shop.

I only recommend secondhand shops or recycle shops if you need to get rid of stuff asap and the lil amount you get is cheaper than the cost of disposal, or if you don’t care about money and rather the convenience.

  3. Ya secondhand stores get a bad rap but if you play your cards right you can come out pretty great.

I remember when Spider-Man on PS4 released and I found it day 1 for 6600 yen, then platinum’d it and sold it back a week later for 5500. Will prolly do the same for Spider-Man 2

  4. Lol. I took 3 bags of clothes yesterday and two suits that I bought for 10,000 + at Perfect Suit Co. got 250 yen.

If you wanna sell for decent money, use ジモティ

  5. They will use メルカリ to set their offer price ceiling. I’ve been in a second hand buying place where they guy literally used it and showed us why his offer was what it was. If you can, pre-check there to see what your items are worth.
