Itinerary check

Hello!! My husband and I are going to Japan for two weeks in late November and I just wanted to post my itinerary and see what ya’ll think. For reference, we are both 26 years old and anime/pop culture nerds, but I’m also a history teacher so we’re trying to do a mixture of shrines and fun things. Also, hotels are already booked so dates we’ll be in each city are set, I’m mostly checking for doability of everything else and maybe tips for travel.

Something to note: still determining whether it would be best to take a stop in Nara on our way to Kyoto or on our way from Kyoto back to Tokyo? We mostly would like to see the deer. Also we don’t really have meals planned so recommendations would be awesome!

  1. For Kyoto:

Jump onto Kichi Kichi Omurice website to see their availability for reservations. I checked with weeks to go before I visited and they were fully booked. You could luck out as a walk in, but there might be quite a long wait.

    For Tokyo:

An alternative route for your day 4 is to start around Shibuya, and move along Ometsando/Harajuku/Yoyogi Park and end up in Shinjuku towards the evening. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building has a free observation level, and it’s Shinjuku is a very lively area in the evening. If you’re needing to relax for the day, my partner and I squeezed in a visit to a mega bathhouse/onsen, Thermae-Yu which is near Shinjuku-sanchome Station.
