Concerns About Road Resurfacing in My Town: Is This Legal?

I need some advice and insight regarding an ongoing road resurfacing project in our town. The issue is that a Wirtgen road surface remover is being used without the dust extraction attachments, which is causing a significant amount of dust. This is especially concerning because silica dust is known to be extremely dangerous.

Here’s a timeline of events:

• In August, we all received a notice about the commencement of roadworks.
• However, nothing happened until October 9th, when work suddenly began at 10 PM.
• This afternoon, a representative came knocking on doors to inform us that noise levels would increase starting tonight.

Tonight, I went outside at 10 o’clock and was shocked to witness the amount of dust generated by the conveyor belt. I believe this situation raises legitimate health and safety concerns. Is there anything I can do about it? Is it legal for them to operate without proper dust extraction equipment? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
