Urgent help about leaving and possibly returning to Japan.

Hi ya’al

I am on an instructor visa and have been paying my insurances and taxes faithfully. My VISA is valid till 2024/4. I will be leaving Japan this december for further studies in the states. M planning to quit and prepare to leave in Novemeber. I have a family that I will be leaving behind in Japan and all of them are dependents (except visa) in every way on me. So bear with me with a long question :

If I quit in November can I receive uemployement insurance till say March next year? I am planning to not close my JP bank account to receive the benefits for my wife and children. I can come back around April next year to close. Of course pension and taxes will keep paying for all of us. Right now we are in Southern Japan. My wife is planning to move in to another cheaper accomodation in Tokyo and find jobs which is highly doubtful becos of her visa situation (her visa is not dependent visa. So m planning to register new address there an continue paying taxes there Or I don’t register new address there and she can close my JP bank account in April after my unemployment ends. is this advisable?
Any HELPFUL advise appreciated.

  1. If you quit in November you won’t actually qualify for benefits until March… But you’ll have to be here in person to go to the biweekly Hello Work meetings and to tell them you’re actively looking for work.

  2. This sounds kinda fraudulent old chap. How can you have dependents when you yourself will not be in the country? Also, 5 months seems like a very short term to uproot the entire family just so they can find part-time work.
