TL;DR: The Unification Church has gathered approximately 50,000 physical signatures on a petition to halt the government’s dissolution order. They sent this petition to Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Masahito Moriyama. However, the letter accompanying the petition makes false claims that the dissolution order would significantly limit the religious freedom of their followers and lead to the liquidation of their assets.
The proposal to freeze the church’s assets was suggested by anti-cult critics to prevent the church from moving its assets out of Japan, potentially to avoid civil claims from former members or their relatives. It’s important to note that this proposal is not yet part of Japan’s law.
The Unification Church does have an online petition on [Change.org](https://www.change.org/p/%E4%B8%96%E7%95%8C%E5%B9%B3%E5%92%8C%E7%B5%B1%E4%B8%80%E5%AE%B6%E5%BA%AD%E9%80%A3%E5%90%88-%E6%97%A7-%E7%B5%B1%E4%B8%80%E6%95%99%E4%BC%9A-%E3%81%AE%E8%A7%A3%E6%95%A3%E5%91%BD%E4%BB%A4%E8%AB%8B%E6%B1%82%E3%82%92%E6%AD%A2%E3%82%81%E3%81%A6%E3%81%8F%E3%81%A0%E3%81%95%E3%81%84?recruiter=1318286593&utm_campaign=signature_receipt&utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=share_petition), but by the time of this post it has only garnered about 27,000 signatures, which is much lower than 200,000 signatures of [another petition](https://www.change.org/p/%E7%B5%B1%E4%B8%80%E6%95%99%E4%BC%9A%E3%81%AE%E5%AE%97%E6%95%99%E6%B3%95%E4%BA%BA%E8%A7%A3%E6%95%A3-%E6%B3%95%E4%BA%BA%E6%A0%BC%E5%8F%96%E6%B6%88-%E3%82%92%E6%B1%82%E3%82%81%E3%81%BE%E3%81%99?source_location=search) which supports the dissolution order against the Unification Church.
50k signature from brainwashed cultists. How do I get in touch with them, I’ve got some vase and statues to sell them.
I don’t even know what they are hoping to do. Unless change . Org is a deity, their appeasement to it means shit in the eyes of the government . They could have a million signatures and government will still go through with it.
If that website had the power to move governments like that, we could have just signed away isis, or signed away any other “bad” political decision
Someone setup a petition FOR the dissolution of this damn cult
That’s terrifying.
