I have just spent a good 3/4 of an hour on the phone with my University student advisor and was essentially told that they (tutors, department heads, themselves) cannot provide me with a proof of degree letter apart from it being a formatted script in the Academic References, and that is IF the referee approves of filling in that comment section. I can request that it be ‘stamped for verification’, but I couldn’t get anymore information out the advisor than that.
Would that be enough? Surely the letter has to be a different document entirely? This seems like it would be easier to wait until next year when I just have the graduate certificate, but my landlord is severely on my case to get me to move out, the sooner the better.
3 month Update:
Apparently that is the equivalent head at my university, however the case instead has gone through Student Case Office and then the general Qualification departments instead if that helps anyone else outside of the US.
I did in fact manage after a lot of emails to get the document from the appropriate party, it ended up being a case of contacting Student Recruitment/the Qualifications department at my University, just specify/outline in BIG RED LETTERS in ALL EMAILS that they need to put specific details as it took forever to work out little details in some documents.

Hi! Not a JET, but a higher education professional (Granted, I’m in the US so this may not apply if you’re based elsewhere)
It sounds like you are going through the improper channels, as academic advising and department heads are not *typically* the ones that can issue such materials. Have you tried your registrar’s office? That is how you would typically get proof of enrollment, expected graduation, degree, etc. I would contact them for proper verification.
I think I did my official transcripts as proof, maybe also try to order your transcripts online. You should be able to do so with a quick online payment (I went to a state college in CA though)
