Hello, I was enjoying some music when I noticed that the pitch accent of 笑顔 which is normally え\がお had become え/がお at 1:07 of [this song](https://youtu.be/ZRtdQ81jPUQ?si=NJPbXC-rgQ8wrfyX&t=67). This got me thinking, how does pitch accent work with songs? I know in Chinese pop songs it’s completely disregarded and even rap sometimes drops it. In Vietnamese tones always trump melody otherwise it sounds awkward so I wonder what’s the case with Japanese.
