Trip report: Hike along the Orange Line in Aichi prefecture

Hey everyone, just wanted to share a hike I did along the Orange Line in Aichi when I was in Japan this summer.

**BASIC INFO**

I was staying in Chita Handa and came across the Orange Line while searching for nearby hiking trails online. It’s a 11-kilometer trail that traverses the Chita-hanto Peninsula and connects between Chita Okuda Station and Kowaguchi Station of the Meitetsu Railway. From what I know the name comes from the autumn foliage one gets to experience along the trail. Unfortunately I was there during summer, but still the scenery was quite enjoyable, with lush greenery and golden fields.

The fun part is that you get to collect [**this cute card**](https://imgur.com/a/49Y6i3M) certifying that you have completed the hike. Depending on your start point you can collect it from either the cafe “Voyager” (Kowaguchi Station) or the tourism association (Chita Okuda Station).

**GETTING THERE**

Just hop on the Meitetsu Raiway and alight at either Chita Okuda Station or Kowaguchi Station.

**THE HIKE ITSELF**

I started from Chita Okuda Station and hiked to Kowaguchi Station. There were many signs along the way to guide me, so I was able to navigate the trail easily. I had to walk along and across roads are some parts, but most of the time I was hiking on nature trails that are well-maintained and easy to walk on. I also got to enjoy a few scenic spots such as Uno Pond (鵜ノ池) and Nabeyama (鍋山).

Overall I had a good time and would recommend this if you are in Aichi and looking to do a hike that’s accessible, isn’t too challenging, and doesn’t take you too far from civilization.

That’s it! If you have any questions please feel free to ask and I’ll do my best to answer them.
