I am living in a village where Radio Taiso is broadcast each morning. In other places, I see people gathering in parks and outside community centres to do the exercises, but never joined in, so my only knowledge of it is from participating in my local event.
We do both exercises: No. 1 and No.2. Someone told me that No. 2 is fairly rarely done, which seems a bit odd. They seem quite short. Does anyone else have experience of either locally?

The old folks do it every day in my hood.
I wouldn’t be able to tell different kinds, they seem to do same set every day.
I didn’t know there was a second one
I watched an NHK special about the mysterious #3. It had too much jumping around and wasn’t played much because it was too exhausting.
Osaka, everyday around 6am. Lot of people here
Not sure if my opinion is needed here but since you ask “how common”, I feel like it may not be totally useless:
I have no idea what you are talking about.
Id replace it with Mambo No. 5.
