R***ten cancelling my credit card right after they send it out?

I applied for their credit card, got email confirmation saying 審査 is done and they have sent the card out to me and I should receive it in around 1 week.

4 days later, I received the card, the booklet says the card is available to use immediately, so I followed the instructions to install a dozen different apps, only to find out the card app says my card is 利用不可.

So the next day I contacted them and ask, and the person basically says “we may do 審査 or 再審査 at random timing, and, based on the result of it, your card is disabled and will never be available for use, so please dispose it, and then you will need to disable all the point stuffs by yourself. Oh, of course we will not tell you why, lmao”.

Is it normal for them to do 審査 after they send the card out? Am I just unlucky, or they do this intentionally to make sure those degenerate enough to get rejected by them to be as miserable as possible by sending them a pile of trash that is a lot of trouble to dispose properly?

  1. This means you passed the initial automated screening so the card was sent out, but when a human reviewed your applicated they canceled your approval. You will never find out why. It may be your income, or they think your job/company is shady or not stable, or they don’t like your name.

  2. The rejection will likely go on your credit report too, where it will stay for the next ~6 months. So wait ~6.5 months before you apply for a different card. Try EPOS next, they are a good option for a first card in Japan.

  3. Op, time to pull your own credit history. Looks like Rakuten found something fishy, or they didn’t like your posted salary/job info upon second glance.
