Best Baito for increasing Japanese speaking ability?

For those who have worked a Baito which has significantly improved their Japanese speaking ability, what was your job, and what was it like?

I’m around N3 level but closer to N4 regarding speaking, and my current job is a strict English only hoikoen. I’m 25, live in Fukuoka city, and am looking for a part-time job to significantly raise my Japanese speaking ability.

  1. Are you on a working visa? That’s going to seriously restrict your (legal) options. assuming you’re on an engineer/humanities/foreign services visa it’ll have to be a job that you’re hired for because of your language skills, which defeats the purpose. Try somewhere that gets a lot of foreign customers, like reception at a hotel or ryokan maybe. You’ll be using a lot of English with customers but it’s better than nothing.

I worked at a bar while I was on a student visa and could still basically get whatever baito I wanted. Even then, bars are a gray area, but because it served small snacks I guess it was registered as an “food and beverage establishment” and not a bar.

  2. You can try childcare, u speak all the time to little kids whose japanese arent that great
