my girlfriend and i want to combine our names to make a new last name for us to share when we are married. “naji” is the only good combination, but we also might want to move to japan at some point. i was wondering what would go through a japanese persons mind if i said “hi my name is nic naji” or if she said “hi my name is jade naji” which is japanese would be more like “niku naji” and “jedo naji” right

Sounds Indian.
Lmao.
They would probably say, “Naji? What country is that last name from?”
Nic Nanji sounds better.
“ナック、なんじ? いまなんじ?”
What would go through their mind? Probably a supermarket jingle. One step inside a supermarket and I have their jingles about mushrooms or fish eggs etc. going through my fricking mind all day long.
Maybe Noroma might work for you.

Either way, they’ll always see you as a foreigner so they wouldn’t care
