Hello, I have read most of the articles online about the business manager visa but still have a few questions. Can anyone with personal experience help out here?
1. Is the requirement 5 million yen invested AND hire 2 Japanese employees, OR hire 2 Japanese employees?
2. How specific is the business registration process, in terms of industry? I will be applying with a publishing and media business that sells books, online courses, and similar services. (This business already exists and is profitable). Some of these are language-learning related. My girlfriend is a language teacher (Italian) and currently has 40+ online clients in Europe. Will we be able to include both of these businesses under a single company, under something like “Education and Publishing”? Or does the business need to be super specific and fit into a pre-determined category?
3. How does the business manager visa work for a married couple? From what I’ve read, two people can apply for separate Business Manager Visa for the same business, as long as their roles are clearly needed? Do you think it’s easier to just have one person get the visa and the other go for a spousal one?
4. Income from abroad – it’s fine to have some percentage of your income from abroad, just not all or most of it? For example – we have European tutoring clients that we teach Italian through Zoom. If we move to Japan and get local Japanese clients, is it an issue if we continue the Zoom ones online? (Taking the money into the Japanese business and paying tax on it.)
5. Any site recommendations for *official* information? I have read a number of different sites that seem to have conflicting information. One site says you need 5m yen and hire employees, the other says just one or the other. Another site says you need 10m revenue and 5m expenses to get the visa renewed…?
