Has anyone taken toeic in japan?

Basically, I registered myself to take TOEIC (Listening & Reading) in Japan. The thing is, my Japanese is really bad (I had to take TOEIC suddenly for personal reasons, so I had no option but to do it here :’)). I have already read about the instructions they provided online in English, but I’m just scared about the actual test instructions on the day of the test.
Can I please ask some questions of anyone from this community who has taken the exam before in Japan? How does the test go? Is there a sound or something to notify you to start the exam and also to move on to the next Listening part? How do you know when to move on to the next part, like reading or listening? What do you do when you are finished? Is there anything else I should be aware of while taking the exam?

  1. I took a few months ago since my company gives us more money each month if you get a high score. I also took Eiken 1.

My Japanese is poor to say the least. Go to the place for the test. Each one is different for setup. Mine was an abandoned school, you sit in a classroom, fill out some documents.

This is the hardest part really. Not too bad. Just follow the example they show and use google translate. It basically asks for things like name, age, grade, work type, test Id number, why you are taking it, yeah google translate. If you need to just ask a proctor. Some speak English.

Bring a pencil, eraser, extra led, clock, and a drink. They do the listening first. It is very quick so read fast. It isn’t hard but it goes fast.

After the listening, you have the rest of the time for reading. I just barely answered all the questions. I am a slow reader since I hate it, and I got distracted by how boring it is.. yeah double reminder to being a watch to track time.

  2. Taken the test multiple times. Both at uni as well as a test center. The test itself would be in English. It would be a voice in English being played over the speakers. Instructions for the test would be in English. There are mock exam books from ETS available and you should try them to get a feel of the test. If you are fluent in English, you’d have tons of time left. I usually just doze off until the time is up.

However the signup page is all in Japanese. Also at the instructions at the test location might be in Japanese (can’t remember what it was like). You could contact the test location whether it is the case.
