Hello \~
I’ve been living in Japan for 6 months now, so I can finally apply for a debit card. Currently, I only have a cash card so it’s pretty useless as I can only make withdrawals at an ATM. Every month I have to go to western union to send money over to my UK bank account to pay bills that come out of that account, but it’s super inconvenient as I have to make the journey there and my dad has to collect the money on the other side to put into my account, so it’s a hassle for both of us! I want to be able to send money across using a debit card but I’m having a hard time finding a good option. If I apply for a debit card with my current Japanese bank, it would cost 7,500 yen each time to transfer the money, which is so expensive T-T Basically, I want to take the money out of the cash card (my company will only pay my salary into this cash card), put it onto a Japanese debit card and transfer it across to my UK bank.

Any solutions to this? I’m probably not the only foreigner who has to send money over seas from time to time but I’m still not sure what the best option is T-T I’m just sick of having to travel every month, my nearest western union is 40 minutes by train T-T

Look into Wise and sending money directly to your foreign account.
