Hi everyone,
Basically on the 29th of August registration for the next jlpt will open at the place i want to take it.
I am debating whether to go for n3 or n2 for a few reasons :
– i consider myself n3 level, from mock tests i have done i have a good confidence i would pass n3
– despite that my reason for taking jlpt in the first place is to work in japan for 2 years, (embedded systems engineering and stuff) while i’ve seen some offer only requiring n3 level since it’s more IT related, most offers ask for n2 as a minimum.
– i feel by december considering i keep my studying pace, it wouldn’t be impossible to reach n2 just not guaranted.
– vocab wise i’m already at n2 level grammar and reading speed are my weaknesses
I will also take some mock n2 tests soon to help myself decide
My question is, should i play it safe ? Go for a almost guaranted n3 so i have something and go for n2 6 months later ? Or should i just go for it ?
Any insight would be apreciated and thank you for taking the time to answer my concerns.

Well since your goal is to work in Japan I would recommend n2 since it’s the default for most work places. If you’re already at n2 in terms of vocab then learning the grammar and uping your reading speed is as easy as reading more!
