I was feeling down, so I took advantage of sticking Uber Eats promo deals to get this cheap takeout sushi at a super steep discount. I think the one on the left looks more like tuna, but I’m not sure? Not complaining either way though lolol
I mean, I guess the one on the left COULD be marinated salmon, but most likely it’s tuna and somebody screwed up.
100% tuna, somebody just messed up haha
Mmmmm tuna
That’s 100%Maguro on the left rolls look decent I would pound these
On the left based on the fat pattern alone, should be tuna not salmon.
Left looks like it might have just come from a different salmon ie they ran out of salmon in between the two
The salmon on the left could be cured Salmon and the lighter Color Salom is the belly part of the fish very good
As someone who is allergic to tuna, this would’ve ruined my evening.
Someone who works in a sushi place here. I see the chefs make it fresh, just like tuna, there’s layers of the fattier salmon. The closer to the belly, the thicker the fatty parts are. The one of the left, with thinner lines are from the lean part of the salmon.
They probably came from different salmon, but the light one is likely salmon belly, while the other ones are likely salmon back (and probably closer to the spine).
Okay but can we talk about how carelessly these were rolled?
Left is wild sockeye or coho. Right is farmed Atlantic.
Are some of you color blind
It’s tuna, I’ve ate it before
It tastes better than canned doesn’t it
Yeah probably different fish unless one roll with the same fish went bad or something.
(Left) tuna (Right) salmon
If both are salmon, one could be sockeye and the other atlantic.
Idk how people are saying it’s Tuna, definitely both salmon
Could be different cuts from the same fish.
They look like they’re both salmon on the right it’s the natural color could be that the ran out of the first batch and took the second one to complete the order maybe the one in the right didn’t go through processing and is natural or something and the other one is processed (got that info from the Chinese restaurant I trust because the sushi chef there is sending processed salmon back
Maybe one on the left is smoked salmon?
Tuna has that deep ruby red colour. Salmon does not. Also, salmon will have streaks of white through it and be pinkish orange.
I’ve eaten a lot of sushi (also used to work in a sushi restaurant) and the one on the left is 100% salmon. It looks very glossy for tuna and the fatty pattern resembles salmon more than tuna. I think they’re both salmon, but just different cuts. Did you taste any difference? Because tuna tastes vastly different than salmon.
It all depends on the cut though. Tuna isn’t always ruby red, as for example the cut close to the belly is more fatty and light pinkish in colour. Both the left and right roll are salmon, just different cuts of the salmon. Salmon also has less white streaks if the cut is more lean (on the back of the salmon for example).
Tuna != Salmon
100 percent salmon. Maybe smoked hence the darker color. Or its dry aged. But those are both probably not the case.
That looks like tuna
The darker ones really look like tuna to me
If it passes the smell test.. fugg it
Looks like tuna and salmon. Looks like
I don’t know what kind of tuna you people are eating, but it just looks like the leaner back portion of salmon and not belly like the right
Looks like tuna and salmon to me
I’m guessing tuna on the darker one and salmon on the lighter one
Sushi chef here ! At first glance I’m guessing the darker roll is most likely a wild caught sockeye salmon. This type of salmon is known for being definitively more red and darker than Atlantic salmon. Although there are quite a few comments here suggesting that it is tuna, I don’t think that is the case. The fish shown here has a somewhat translucent quality to it while tuna is a much more opaque. Without more images this is just my best educated guess.
That’s definitely tuna on the left
The variety of answers delivered, each with such conviction is… something.
I don’t think the one of the left is tuna. I think the lighting is throwing off the color. I think they’re from different parts of the salmon filet. The right is from the belly which is a noticeably lighter color of the filet because of the significantly higher fat content. The one on the left looks like salmon that may have either been brined or lightly cured or just dried out some. Plus the protein structure of tuna is typically much thicker than salmon and you wouldn’t have that many layers of lean tuna in such a small piece of fish.
