The episode when the missionary Francis Xavier came to Japan to proselytise.

Xavier.
‘~ Thus, those who do not believe in God will not be saved after death.

Japanese
‘So my grandparents and ancestors who were not Christians will be in hell in the afterlife?’

Xavier.
‘Er, yes, sort of.’

Japanese.
‘Isn’t your God, for an omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent One God, rather ruthless and incompetent?’ Can’t you at least save my ancestors?”

Xavier heard this and sent a letter to the Vatican. And the reply is available at ……

‘Okay, by special exception, if only Japan’s descendants become Christians, their ancestors will also be saved.’

…… Is that how it works? Is this what you want? Can someone please tell me?

  1. I know this is a joke, but Ex-Catholic here.

    John 5:28-29

28 “Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice 29 and come out—those who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned.

Basically what it means is that people that never genuinely knew God/Jesus will be judged by their deeds.

That, is, IF the mumble-jumble-bible is “real”.
