Itinerary Check late November – 1st time in Osaka

First time in Osaka at end of November and will be traveling with an older but still mobile parent. Are these enough time budgeted for each location? Or maybe alternate suggestions to visit? We really want to see the fall colors since there are no seasons where we live.

Not allergic to anything, so also open to suggestions of places to eat!

  1. If you’re planning to hike up to the summit of Fushimi Inari, be prepared for some muscle soreness the next day 🙂 Please bring plenty of drinks with you. The prices for beverages tend to be higher in the mountains.

On the 5th day, if you’re planning to visit Minoh Waterfall, how about having lunch at “Tempura no Yama Minoh Branch”?

Even for us Japanese, this place offers meals of exceptionally high quality. However, the prices are very reasonable.

Here are some differences from regular tempura restaurants:

At other places, they bring out the dishes after the entire set is ready. This place brings out each piece of freshly fried, delicious tempura one by one.

Typically, eating a lot of fried food can make you feel queasy. However, even if you eat your fill of tempura at this place, you won’t feel sick. Your stomach will feel refreshed.

You can order additional pieces of tempura at your table, starting from just one piece. Let’s try various things like vegetables and fish.

The kushikatsu (deep-fried skewers) is delicious as well, but definitely try the tempura too. :) It might be fun to try comparing them diligently.

By the way, please be cautious of monkeys at Minoh Waterfall. They are quite clever and may open bottles to drink the contents.

  2. Know that Mizuno always has a line so if you get there at 7 be prepared to wait until at least 8 but it’s pretty good so good choice. Don’t forget to try tacoyaki which is delicious in Osaka go to the ones with the long lines. Osaka castle is pretty overated but I guess it looks cool from the outside, since you’re going to Kyoto spend time at Nijo castle for a good castle experience. Overall looks like your schedule is very chill adding room for other things just know that if you’re in Osaka on a weeknight it will be slammed full of people. Of course if I were you I would spend more time in Kyoto it’s incredible but maybe big city is your style.
