The amazing voice of the woman who does the announcements on the Tokaido Shinkansen — Donna Burke!

Applying for student visa for Japanese language school, but my university won't give me my transcripts. I only attended college for 1 semester and while I have well beyond the required Japanese study, it was all self-taught so shouldn't need those transcripts as evidence. Do I really need them?

One of my favorite things about the Shinkansen is the dulcet tone of the woman’s voice making the stop announcements on the Tokaido line. She has literally the most civilized accent in the history of humanity. The first time I heard it, it made me want to meet her so we could discuss global politics or Wittgenstein or something. I figured it would automatically add 20 points to my IQ. I think they should play recordings of her voice at prison riots and former presidents’ rallies, whereupon all the participants will suddenly abandon their mayhem and sit down for a nice cup of tea.
It turns out the woman’s name is [Donna Burke](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlX_8SdsW30), an Australian woman now living in Japan, who is otherwise known as “The Shinky Lady” in Australia. She’s an accomplished singer and voice actress, among other things, and she is also absolutely [hilarious](https://youtu.be/JwwvF4qYOYM?feature=shared&t=297)! A genuinely amazing person.
Donna Burke who does all of the Metal Gear Solid songs?
Bonus: the Tokyo train announcer is Christelle Ciari and she has TikTok. https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSNM5eHuE/
Man this voice brought back some good memories
Is this the same voice as “Divine Buster”?
Thanks for this – I think everyone who has been on that train remembers the voice.
After you posted, I obviously had to search for her, and found this interesting youtube.
