Applying for student visa for Japanese language school, but my university won’t give me my transcripts. I only attended college for 1 semester and while I have well beyond the required Japanese study, it was all self-taught so shouldn’t need those transcripts as evidence. Do I really need them?

I would like to just apply listing my high school, my diploma, and evidence of my studies.

I was only in college for one semester, 19 years ago! Despite having my loans paid off, my university still is unable to release my transcripts due to some kind of system problem.

Can I just not list that university and ignore that part all together?

I don’t want to lie about anything, nor do I want to get into trouble with Japan and ruin my chances of future visas, but if I can just avoid the need for those transcripts by omission of that school from my listed education – that would be wonderful.

It really was a highly irrelevant blip in the life of a former me. I have no problem turning those in, but I just don’t have them and won’t be able to get them in time, it’s been so much trouble.

Thanks for any help!

  2. A system problem preventing transcript releases is very often due to a user having an outstanding charge on their account.

Any other kind of problem would be negligence from them not to fix.

  3. You shouldn’t need transcripts to go to language school, but talk to the school you want to attend and they will inform you of what documents are needed.
