Applying to Japanese universities

Hello!

I am from post-USSR country (the education in my home country is poor quality by many standards), and I am very interested in applying to Japanese universities. I have searched the subreddit regarding admission process, and I wonder about the following main questions:

What is the best way to apply to Japanese university and receive sufficient scholarship? Does Japanese government provide good scholarships for Japanese-only bachelor degrees? Is it worth to target top tier Japanese STEM universities as an ex-student from previous university?

Note: A bit info about me: I have finished high school 4 years ago, and most of my recent activity was studying in Russian university, which I have dropped out due to recent events. I am interested in mathematics programs in Japan, and I currently enrolled in Japanese language classes to attain at least N3 level during next year.

  2. Check MEXT scholarship. Most of the information should be in the websibe of Japanese embassy in your country.

  3. If you are looking for scholarships as a foreign student, the only option from the Japanese government is MEXT. It’s a great program, but also very competitive. There’s lots of information on the program out there, just do some research.
