I live in western Tokyo on the Ome line. For family reasons ie. Toddler I don’t often get to cycle in the daytime, so most nights I do a quick 20km 23:00-0:00 ish in Hamura, Fussa, Ome and Akiruno. So I routinely encounter wildlife, foxes, tanuki, and the occasional family of boar. In the last week I have been seeing a lot more tanuki. Tonight was a tanuki party, they were everywhere. I don’t know much about tanuki life styles, is this a special time of year when they are about more? Something about preparing for winter?

Possibly a glut of things they feed on around this time of year (eg, mushrooms, persimmons, and citrus fruits)?
Probably fattening up for winter hibernation. Only canines that do it.
Get some claymore mines and defensive weaponry, you’re about to get hit.
