Tomorrow I’m planning on going to the fire fesrival in Kyoto. It starts at 6 PM and goes on till 12. I won’t make it home if I leave after 7, so I will probably stay out all night. My question is what are my options for things to do. I dont think I can spend the night in Kurama village

It”s mostly over at about 9. Midnight is a shrine ceremony, not fire stuff. If you go, you are going to stink royally of smoke, and so will everyhting your wear/carry (including cameras), so going and hanging out elsewhere may be problematic .
