Hey guys in a couple months i want to ride the train up to Tokyo from Fukuoka to meet my brother and we would ride down towards Fuk stopping at Osaka for and Hiroshima for two nights each city. Unfortunately I’m not eligible for a rail pass i read up on something called Tochugesha. Do I have to use the slowest trains or can this work on Shinkansen trains? Also am I able to get into any green cars along the journey if i make the purchases? Any ideas Thanx in advance

途ä¸ä¸‹è»Š or stopovers are only available for base fare ticket. It isn’t allow on Shinkansen supplement ticket so you can board whatever you bought.
So you would buy round-trip Hakata-Tokyo base fare ticket (since Hakata-Tokyo is over 600km, by buying round-trip you get 10% discount), which will be valid for 14 days. You then buy shinkansen supplement tickets Hakata-Tokyo, Tokyo-Shin-Osaka, Shin-Osaka-Hiroshima, Hiroshima-Hakata. Make sure you completely exit the station at Shin-Osaka first and use another ticket/IC-card to go from Shin-Osaka to Osaka otherwise you would have to do complicate ticketing to continue your journey.
I would compare cost of flying to Tokyo.
And if your brother does not already have the pass, make sure he calculate if still worth as there was a big price increase.
Yes I can I need to find the price of train to see if it’s worth the 10% discount round trip then flying how much more or less I would pay
