for those who have had late residence taxes during visa extension

mea cupla, i’m currently in the visa renewal process and just realized i had an outstanding residence tax bill i forgot to pay in the summer. I of course immediately paid at the atm, but considering they usually take several days to process—do you think this will cause my visa to be rejected outright?-or will I be contacted and have the chance to prove i’m all paid up before proceeding with the process? Wondering it anyone has had similar experiences.

edit- to clarify the application is already sent in and, presumably, currently being processed.

  1. They do check to see if you are paid up to date during renewal, however it doesn’t mean an automatic rejection. It is more than likely that they will call you out on it and tell you to pay it before approving your renewal, but if you’ve already paid I’d just wait and see what happens. There have been instances of immigration not caring, but also pulling people up on it. Just wait and see for now.

  2. I had a similar situation, except they asked me to bring proof I’d paid when I came to collect.

Go to your ward office and get proof it’s now paid. Then take that to immigration.
