We are planning on taking the Meimon Taiyo ferry (second sailing) from Osaka to Fukuoka (Shinmoji) around mid/late January, and was wondering if anyone has had experience booking the ferry online.
The website says for foreign visitors, the reservation process works via a reservation request 2 months in advance, to which they will reply via email if the requested room is available. We were hoping to reserve the suite/deluxe rooms, but there are a limited number and they are popular.
I’m afraid that they will take a few days to respond saying that the room is no longer available, and then our second choice of superior will then be no longer available.
If we’re allowed to, I’d just figure out the Japanese language reservation system, which appears to allow instant reservation. The way it’s set up foreign visitors appear to get second dibs on room selection, which isn’t ideal.

I filled in the foreigner request form for a private room about two weeks before the departure date and had it confirmed via email the next day.
Just fill in the form and see what they say.
