Question about “を” particle usage

I came across with a sentence in N5 reading book. It was きんじょ を さんぽしました。Aren’t we supposed to say “きんじょは さんぽ を しました。” ? Why is “を” used after “きんじょ”?

  1. it’s like saying something like “we walked the neighborhood to get some exercise.” it’s the same in english, it seems like “the neighborhood” is the object of “walked.”

  2. There would be a は if you included the pronoun. 私はきんじょをさんぽしました
