So I just went recently to japan and I had this japanese schoolgirl sat beside me in a 4D rollercoaster ride, since im wearing glasses I just put the glasses making it a double glasses, so then the girl beside me saw my double glasses and said: “ehh? doboru(double?!)”, I just didn’t know what to say, I’ve been thinking what should I have said in this kind of situation?

As long as you didn’t assault her, I bet what you said/did in response was perfectly fine
You should take said *chotto matte*, taken another pair, put over your current glass glasses + plastic glasses combination, and say *triperu*.
the girl is a stranger? and you are fully positive she talked to you? (and not to a friend or herself?)
smile and nod? enjoy the 4D show.
thumbs up? finger guns? kawaii pose? enjoy the 4D show.
double desu (in full seriousness and leaving it ambiguous or doing the anime-gesture of pushing up your glasses). enjoy the 4d show.
single desu (either nodging the converstional focus to her or to indicate your relationship status, though I would be surprised if this one landed due to language issues) (because single is not a common anglizism in Jpn. in contrast to double)
Why are you thinking about, what is basically, a throwaway comment?
What would you have said if this happened in your own country and in your native tongue?
Ignoring such a comment is usually the best approach in Japan.
You should have counted the individual glasses: ichi, ni, sa, yon : FOA- DEE (4D)
It’s not common to communicate between strangers in Japan. So you can just ignore it and say nothing.
Brother what 😂😂😂
