  1. Can I start those NISA things even if I only intend to stay approx 2 years in Japan? I will google this but my Japanese is weak outside of my specific field.

  2. Has anybody been to the US embassy in Tokyo recently? If yes, how was it? With the whole COVID thing? Also was it busy/packed ?

  3. Anyone else use the vpass app for smbc credit cards? The app works but is frankly terrible. Follows classic Japanese web/app/ad design where they just throw up a bunch of information on the homepage, and everything useful is hidden behind menus. I don’t suppose there’s a way to make it just show how much I’ve spent this month on the homepage and my credit limit also on the homepage? Those are really the only two bits of info I need to see on the homepage.

  4. Does taking PTO count towards the 28h limit students have? I’ve been working this baito for over a year now and received 7 days of PTO I can use but I am confused if it gets counted as actual working hours when I use it or not.

  5. Got my bonus pay today. It was paid in full. Does that mean bonus’ are not taxed or I need to declare the bonus in the year end tax and then I’m liable to pay that tax?

  6. When a job posting asks for a photo along with your resume do they mean the ID style photo or is a professional headshot okay?

  7. is it okay to play (practice) guitar on a public park? no loud strumming or singing or anything, and i am not looking to make money out of it, i just dont want to play inside my dorm because the room is not very soundproof

  8. Is there a value-ticket for Osaka that covers Tanimachi Line, Tokaido-Sanyo Line and 神戸・舞子~岩屋・野島・北淡 bus?
Google Maps has the route cost about 1,390 yen in one way, so anything cheaper than 2,780 is already value.
