Increase the monthly limit of EPOS credit card

I finally managed to get a Credit Card in Japan from EPOS but unfortunately my monthly limit is only 10万円、which is extremely low considering that I would like to use this card for all my monthly expenses. Is there a way to permanently extend the limit to at least 30万? I heard after some time EPOS will increase it automatically but the time frame seems to be different for each individual.

I know that I can apply for an irregular increase in case I can give a special reason such as traveling abroad. I actually tried this 2 months ago and they denied it lol…

If there is no way to increase the limit, do you have recommendations for other credit card companies in Japan? I applied several times for a Rakuten and Amazon card and was denied…

I’m currently working in a bigger company as a Seshain with an an average salary of a bit more than 4 million JPY (In case this information is relevant for credit card applications)

  1. Just use the card and pay your bill on time every month. **NEVER** be late. You need to build a positive credit history with them, and positive credit in general. Once they see you using the card and paying your bill, they will raise your credit limit.

If you push them too hard to raise your limit, they might cancel your card entirely.

In a year or so once you have some credit history, some job history, some history living at the same address… Apply for another credit card. Try Rakuten. Do not rush this, because when you get denied it sits on your report for 6 months.

  2. Since you’ve been denied multiple times for a credit card (don’t do that) you’re probably going to get a credit increase on your EPOS before you’re accepted for any new cards. For what it’s worth, I started with a 500k limit which got bumped to 900k in 6 months, then invited to upgrade to an EPOS gold card with 1M limit the month after.

  3. If there is an Epos atm near you, you can use cash to pay off some balance so that you can continue to use it even if you hit the 100K limit before the next bank transfer date.

  4. Thank you for all the advices. Then I will definitely do that. Another option I tried was to create a PayPay account. However my current bank is Japan post and I couldn’t connect my Bank Account with my PayPay account. Did anyone run into the same issue?

Do you have to actually go to Japan post and ask them to connect your Bank account with your PayPay account?
