Return item on Mercari

Since I’ve only been in Japan for 1 month, I don’t know much about how stuff works here. I bought something but for a few reasons, I gotta return it. The seller told me to send it back cash on delivery.

I read some posts on Reddit that said the seller’s will pay for the shipping back ?. Also, because I paid through the combini, there was an 880 yen fee tacked on when I got the stuff. Do I return the price including that 880 yen or just the original price?

  1. Ask the sellers but in most cases unless the item is faulty when it’s not supposed to be, you would pay for the shipping.

As for the fee, that might not get refunded to you.

  2. It depends on the seller and the reason for return.

Typically if you are returning for your own reasons then you will lose the cost of shipping in both directions as well as whatever payment fees you might have paid. It is after all **your** desire to return, the seller did nothing wrong.
