Hi everyone! I am planning my second trip to Japan & would appreciate if you could sense check my *very* rough itinerary for the first few days in Hokkaido (I’m trying to book accommodation first before I confirm what I want to do). I feel like it might be a bit too ambitious given the amount of time I’m planning to spend, and also I will only have access to public transport. Also will be solo travelling if that makes any difference 🙂

19th Jan:
\- land at New Chitose at about 2:30PM
\- go to Otaru and check in for one night near the station
\- Mt Tengu, Otaru Canal (I’m aware this is before the light festival in Feb), onsen at the hotel

20th Jan:
\- spend most of the morning exploring other things in Otaru such as the Music Box Museum
\- go to Asahikawa, check in for one night
\- Asahiyama Zoo, see the penguin walk at 2:30PM
\- Furano by public transport??? this is where I’m unsure – really would like to go see Ningle Terrace

21th Jan:
\- check out of Asahikawa, store luggage
\- take public transport to Biei to see blue lake
\- go back to Asahikawa, check in hotel in Sapporo

22th Jan:
\- full day in Sapporo OR half-day trip to Noboribetsu OR check out of Sapporo, go to Noboribetsu (have stayed in a ryokan before and experienced the onsen so not too fussed if I skipped this for more time in Sapporo, but it also doesn’t seem like I have that much to see in Sapporo given that the ice festival isn’t until after I leave)

23rd Jan:
\- Sapporo to Hakodate
\- see the night view from Mt Hakodate

24th Jan:
\- Hakodate to Tokyo
