Hi everyone,
So I’ve been placed in Osaka-fu, and I’m really excited to have a placement now! But I’m kinda scared about having to find accommodation on my own and find somewhere to live. Is there any advice on what I can do or where to look? I don’t really know the exact school or area I’m teaching in yet so I did email the programme to ask for the contracting organisation’s details so I can find out more information. I’m just a little scared since I’m currently a student and don’t really have a lot of money saved up. So any advice would be helpful! Thanks!

Just chill like they even say the CO will reach out to you in a bit. You don’t know anything about your placement so just relax til then.
You mentioned not having a lot of money saved up. Have you researched the JET “start up” costs? A lot of the sources I’ve seen suggest having at least a couple thousand ready to go for when you arrive since you won’t get a paycheck until about a month in. Not at all trying to be presumptuous – my secondhand anxiety just felt like I should mention it lol That way maybe you can save up over the summer until departure if you need to
The CO will contact you once they’re ready. But if you’re placed in Osaka-fu, you’re not likely not going to be in the main city of Osaka as they have their program separate from JET. You’ll most likely not have to look for your accommodation but that itself is ESID as we don’t know which CO you have. But if you do, they’ll usually help you out by putting you in touch with an agency. For now, just focus on saving money.
