Hi! I want to meet more people outside of my school. Where do you all go to meet people? I know bars and clubs might be the easiest but any other ideas?
Realized in Jp it’s easy to meet people (other than bars/clubs) if you are into some kinda hobby. I’m a photographer and met some people into photography, we often go on photo walks or just hangout sometimes.
Join some kind of hobby oriented group. Dance class, cooking lessons, kickboxing, yoga, sports, aerial acrobatics, rock climbing, yosakoi, hiking, etc. preferably something where you’re able to converse casually during class or talk a bit after class or whatever
I know it’s still in schools, but school club is a big thing and you might find one which match with your hobbies! Sport club is also a good way to meet new people.

If you like bunnies and are in Tokyo we have almost weekly rabbit runs where owners bring their buns and passerbys come and pet the buns and you can meet people that way 🙂
We have one in Daikanyama/Ebisu this sunday 😀 dm for more details if youd like! (Or check my past posts for info!)
I second the answers you got below. A great way to meet people is to find a group that does a hobby or activity you like. Photography, hiking, aikido, chorus. Whatever you are interested in. It’s a natural way to make connections – and many groups will have ‘extra curricular’ activities that will help you get to know the other folks.
Become a regular at a cafe that’s not too busy (read: slammed all the time). Or if you’re in a larger town you probably have what’s called a “coffee stand,” essentially a tachinomiya but for coffee.
Meetup. Find a hobby specific group.
Meetups or bars / clubs which you prefer not to be it is generally the easiest in any country you visit
I’ve been a golfer and a skier. My net of friends is huge thanks to those two sports. People love to talk about the things they like, so make it easy to spark an interest in each other and do the same hobby!
There are lots of welcoming communities for different hobbies and interests. I wrote a list of recommendations [here](https://medium.com/p/c1f6f37eebe3)

*Some terms and conditions apply. Must be a social hobby. Must be mainstream enough that large numbers of people partake. Must take priority over your other hobbies in order to regularly meet people.
