Hello Japan expats out there!
I need your advice. I am leaving Japan in December to study in Canada. I have more or less ¥3,000,000 yen (Around $28K CAD) in my Mizuho bank account. I intend to bring all of them to Canada.
If someone has an idea or experience,
My question is what is the best way to transfer funds? Wire transfer or physically bringing cash to Canada?
I have no prior experience on this matter. So, I would really appreciate your advice. Thanks in advance!

I use Wise to send money to my daughter in Canada. I’ve been using it for three years with no trouble.

What’s Canadas limit of bringing funds before you have to declare ? I believe America is 10,000 USD
Wise is ok for amounts upto 1 million yen. For more than that use SWIFT transfer.
Quickest and cheapest u can bring up to $9999 cash with you (or equivalent in yens but not sure where exchange rates will be better)
To transfer $ do you even have a Canadian bank account first of all?
I brought back about 2 million¥ in cash before and all I had to do was declare it and then they asked me to sign some form stating where it came from and that was it
My condolences for having to exchange Yen during these times..
