Finding Japan Related Jobs in the UK?

I’m currently an American working as a CIR in Japan. Although I like Japan I know it is not a forever home for me and so after my contract ends next summer I’m planning on leaving Japan. Although there are plenty of Japan-related jobs in America, I don’t particularly want to move back there either and so am trying to figure out a way to relocate to the UK. I’ve recently started to research job opportunities but haven’t had much luck.

I was hoping to hear some experiences of Jet alumni doing Japan-adjacent work in the UK. What sort of work are you doing now? Do you have any recommendations on where to look (specific job sites, companies, recruitment agencies etc.) Thank you!

  1. UK CIR here. If you are under 30 consider applying for a working holiday visa, since most companies in the UK don’t really want to sponser one, some do but depends on the company.

Most people look for jobs using Linkedin, Indeed or the (Job Centres-Only available if already in the UK with a valid visa). Career Forum has career fairs worldwide and I’m sure there 1-2 career fairs held in London once a year.

    Hope this helps 🙂

  2. Getting a work visa in the UK as an American is pretty tough. I had a friend who did undergraduate and graduate school in the UK but had to leave because she couldn’t find a job willing to sponsor her visa. If you graduated within the last 5 years from a top ranking university, you could be eligible for [this visa](https://www.gov.uk/high-potential-individual-visa)
