50 cc moped license expired 8 years ago. Can it be renewable?

8 years ago, i came here as student and after a few months , I converted my home country bike license to 50 cc moped scooter here.
Used it for about a years or two.
Then I moved to Tokyo after graduation and didnt need a bike . Used trains and buses .
So I have my license unused and expired.
Is it renewable or is it better reapply from beginning?
I am planning to buy a 50cc moped bike again just to roam and shop closely.

  1. You had up to 6 months after the license expired to renew it, you’ll have to go through the whole process again

  2. I think you have to get the license from the beginning again. But it’s easy to get a license for 50cc motorbike. There is no practice test. You have to take only a written test.

Besides, from July 2023, small mopeds do not require you to have a license.

  3. Correct me if I’m wrong I think the Genstuki license still applies to 50cc but not to the electric scooters.
