Anyone have experience working at a livehouse/ concert venue in Japan?

Whats it like?

  1. Hey, I have rented out livehouses in Japan but never worked at one and my friends own a few.

It seems like a pretty chill job.

  2. It is very much like it is in the states. I’ll be pleased and surprised if anyone else is on this forum.

  3. Mostly cleaning.

Bad DJs can ruin your day. (Drunk one got mad when I told them time was up and poured beer all over the mixer. His partner paided for a new one, but still..).

Had a bunch of foreigners try and steal x-mas ornaments off the tree during a Latin dance night. Like, wut?!

Drunk lady swung a chair at the disco ball destroying it. (also paid for)

Got to host and meet Toshi from X-Japan and Atsushi Yanaka from Tokyo Ska Paradise. That was cool.

Money is great if the event is good. Dead on the weekdays so many places branch out (dance instuctors nights, open mic nights, or reserved after wedding parties) to turn a profit.

  4. Not livehouse, but nightclub bartender, which probably share similarities. I guess above all else I was not prepared for the sheer amount of cleaning and crowd control.
