Where should I study?

Hi!

I am a student from Belgium looking to go on exchange in the semester fall –> winter

I need to pick between these universities:

\- China, Bijing: Tsinghua university

\- Taiwan, Taipei: National taiwan university

\- Korea, Seoul: Seoul national university

\- Japan, Tokyo: Waseda university

\- Australia: sydney / queensland

In what order would you choose these and why?

I like Bijing for being the Wild west of Asia and I get to learn some mandarin. But it’s very cold

Taipei isn’t as cold but it’s also somewhat less special compared to bijing

Korea is good but I’m not sure if I love the social media type lifestyle and I’d rather learn some mandarin.

Japan I like the culture and it’s also in a big city like tokyo, I love the food, and maybe I can do gymnastics. I’d still rather learn mandarin but I could revisit Japan later on. Only problem I have is there is no on-campus student housing and I am afraid I will get lost and have no friends here.?

  2. Instead of asking us where you should study, ask yourself what exactly do you want to get out of the experience? You already have some pointers, list them down and rank them.

Learning a new language or improving your language skills? You seem to really want to learn Mandarin so why not just push through with Bijing?

Traveling or exposing yourself to a culture? Pick a country you haven’t been to and really want to visit as a tourist.

Want to bolster your resume? Pick the most well-known school—definitely one of the ones in Australia.

Want to migrate? Pick a country you’d want to move to so you can try living there for a few months.

  3. Tsinghua is the top ranked university in Asia I think. The Ivy League of China. As someone from Australia, I recommend against universities here 😂
