General Advice on 3-day Tokyo itinerary

Does this itinerary look good? Appreciate any advice or recomendations.

Day 0

\———

* Arrive at Tokyo in evening.
* Check-in at hotel (nearest station: Gotanda), explore area around hotel (shopping at Donki for souvenirs, etc.), grab dinner at an okonomiyaki place nearby.

Day 1

\———-

* Early breakfast at place near hotel, then Hie Shrine.
* Asakusa: Go to top of Asakusa Information Centre to get pictures of Kaminarimon, Nakamise Dori, etc. Explore shops at Nakamise Dori on way to Senso-ji.
* Walk to Kappabashi Street via Hoppy Street: kitchenware shopping.
* Return to hotel to drop off any shopping, etc.
* Evening: Ride train to Akihabara: game arcades, retro games shopping at Suragaya, Hard Off.

Day 2

\———-

* Send large luggage via takkyubin to Kyoto hotel, then quick, early breakfast.
* Ride train to Shibuya: Meiji-Jingu shrine, Hachiko statue, Shibuya Scramble, Shibuya PARCO: Nintendo Store, Pokémon Center, lunch at Kura Sushi, Loft.
* Explore Shinjuku: Kabukicho, Giant Cat billboard, Godzilla, check out a couple vintage camera shops, general walking around.
* Gotokuji Temple
* Team Labs Planets (evening)

Day 3

\———-

* Explore Ginza: Breakfast at Happy Pancake, single-act show at Kabuki-za, Art Aquarium Museum, check out a couple regional antenna shops (Nagano, Kagoshima).
* Imperial Palace (???) – This is optional but just about 5-minute walk from Tokyo Station. I know you can’t enter the buildings without a guided tour, just explore the palace grounds. Would you recommend going here?
* Tokyo Station: Check out Character Street shops, grab a bento before evening train to Kyoto.

  1. for your early breakfasts, I’d recommend conbinis like family mart, 7-11, and lawson. There aren’t many other places to grab a quick bite in the early morning, and the quality of food is really great compared to convenience stores throughout the rest of the world.

    My personal faves in the morning are egg salad sandos, onigiri, and any kind of tea or coffee

  2. Day 2, meiji jingu and shibuya aren’t that close, and the temple itself will make u walk quite a bit too, so unless you’re ready for some fast, extensive walking, i suggest take the train from harajuku to shibuya.
    Maybe gotokuji can be excluded, because it’s 1hr train ride with a few transfers to teamlab, so going there from shinjuku and then circling back to teamlab is gonna take hefty time already.

  3. Just a few points for your possible attractions.

    1. Kappabashi St.: Avoid visiting on Sundays. Lots of major local shops are closed. There is a good chopsticks shop called Hashifuji. It is closed on Sundays. [https://hashitou.co.jp/english/](https://hashitou.co.jp/english/)
    2. Shibuya Crossing: The best times are later in the afternoon on weekends. You will not see many people in the morning on weekdays.
    3. Team Labs: It is quite a long way from the Shinjuku area. And it will take about 2 hours if you would like to take lots of photo at Team Labs.

  4. Hello 🙂
    Day 1 and 2 are ok for me.
    But Teamlab on day 3 it’s a bit short. It’s far away from Shinjuku Area…
    Keep in mind that time passes quickly because the Tokyo is a big city, even if all the activities are in the same neighborhood
