Hello, maybe someone has been in a similar situation. My spouse has gotten a job where she has to go out of Japan for longer than my residence card is valid, while she is out of Japan, I am planning to stay here in Japan so the question is it even possible to renew the residence card without my spouse being in Japan?

I did it a few years ago when my mother in law fell ill and my wife moved back with our daughter to handle the family business.
Immigration GRILLED the hell out of us and we had to provide additional documents (hospital records for MiL) and an exact date when my wife would be back (which was hard considering her mother’s illness).
I recommend going to immigration together ASAP and explaining your situation. It’ll make it a lot easier. It’s definitely possible but you may have to provide things like your wife’s contract and expected return, as well as a hand written letter.
Good luck!
If your wife no longer has a juminhyo you won’t be able to renew your spouse visa. In fact your spouse visa would become invalid the moment she removes her juminhyo.
She needs to remove her juminhyo (remove herself from the basic resident register) if she intends to reside outside Japan as the base of her life for >1 year.
Her returning to japan for short holidays is not an acceptable reason, to maintain a juminhyo and would be a violation of the basic resident register act.
I.e is she going to be a resident of japan still? If yes, then you need to speak to immigration and explain why she will spend a lot of time outside Japan. If no, then you need to speak to immigration, because you’d no longer be entitled to a spouse visa
Either way, speak to immigration/a professional for this, not Reddit
Sounds like slither reason to get PR ASAP!
