It’s that time of the week again. Please boast and share about the good things that have happened to you this past week!

  1. For some reason I no longer remember, when opening what eventually became my main bank account, I included one extra character in my furigana name. Over the years, this sometime tripped me up when linking that account with other services, although it was never a deal breaker. Fixing it had been on my backlog for a long time, but I kept putting it off.

Until yesterday, I finally bit the bullet and visited my local branch. The whole process was much smoother than I expected. Shout out to the bank clerk for her friendliness and efficiency.

  2. It’s been years I didn’t catch a cold (~10 years as far as I remember).

Starting a comfy relaxing day in the bed with way more clothes to sweat out the invaders, with the compilation of Kawabata books. Today is going to be a good day.

Édit : turns out it’s COVID, I’m happy it’s not a super bad COVID !

  3. There’s an open-to-everyone volleyball (and basketball) session every Monday at my local 体育館 (gymnasium?). I took part in volley for the first time and it was great fun. Players were surprisingly good, everybody played with positions and the games were great fun. Although I did land on someones foot after a block and sprained my ankle really bad and have had trouble walking and putting my swelled foot into my shoes since. eh

  4. I bought a new bike from Red Baron. The staff have been really excellent and I’ve been super happy with everything.

I went to two local Red Baron’s near me to check out stock and I didn’t get as much as an いらしゃいませ from the staff, which was really disappointing. I tried a third one and the sales manager came outside to greet me before I’d even taken my helmet off. Just a super friendly guy.

I made a point of telling him that his service and his entire team have been awesome, and was miles ahead of other stores in the chain. I think it’s so easy for people to complain when they get bad service (as evidenced by the relative size of the complaint vs. praise threads on this sub) so I always try to make a point of praising and expressing gratitude for really excellent service.

For anyone looking for a motorcycle in the Kobe area, Red Baron Suzurandai is awesome!

  5. I finished hooking up my PC to a tv and I’m happy that I can’t really tell a big difference between 1440p and 4k. I can’t even tell a big difference between native resolution and upscaling.
I initially thought I wouldn’t care about ray tracing but cyberpunk almost require it. It looks amazing.
Now I just need to convince my wife to go visit her sister over a weekend so I can get some solid game time in.

  6. – got a pair of pants on Mercari and they’re the comfiest thing I own right now

    – started Candito’s squat focused program and DAMN my quads are feeling it.

    – long weekend- slept in till 1pm today and felt the least tired I have in weeks

  7. IT department put up a tiny, adorable Christmas wreath on their door, and little Christmas knickknacks are slowly appearing around their office space. they are still as unsociable as ever and occasionally surly, but they are getting into the Christmas spirit way before everyone else.

coffee barista jiji randomly gave me some rooibos tea, and it was honestly better than I was expecting.

  8. Bought some really good ground beef at the local butcher and I’m getting excited to make fancy hamburgers for my in-family who’s visiting tomorrow. My secret to tasty buns is toasting them first and spreading homemade garlic butter on them.
