Where to throw away gasoline in Tokyo?

So my parents or grandma bought some gasoline which has basically just been sitting in a plastic container for 20 years. It’s starting to smell bad. But I don’t know where to dispose of it.

I looked online but it just said consult with the place you bought it. I tried calling a gas station but they won’t take it. Has anyone ever dealt with this kind of problem before?

  1. If you ask any local car shop, they can toss it in with the used oil. It gets taken away by a company for free anyhow

  2. Out here in the inaka they’d probably just take it out to an empty field away from sparks and flame sources and dump it out on the ground.

Either that or sparingly use it to burn brush.

  3. I called another gas station nearby and they took it off my hands. They asked for 880 yen though to take the gas and container
