In 1910, German architect, Georg de Lalande, designed and erected this house in Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo. Lalande contributed to architectural projects across Japan’s prominent port cities, spanning from Yokohama and Tokyo to Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, and even Korea. His architectual style embraced Jugendstil architecture, a variant of Art Nouveau that gained popularity in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Google Maps links and to sites detailing Lalande’s work in Asia are available at my blog (2-min. read time): see link in profile.
